The San Juans Chapter of Citizens Alliance for Property Rights has requested candidate participation in answering the questions listed below. CAPR will use candidate answers to make a decision about whom to support in the upcoming elections.
As a council member, would you vote to raise taxes or to cut spending to fund new projects? Please explain.
It has been suggested that our county require and adopt a critical areas ordinance that would require a shoreline setback of 200'. This would make most waterfront homes non-conforming. Do you favor or oppose a 200' setback? Please explain.
Do you support the use of sustainable water sources, such as rainwater catchment and desalinization systems? Please explain.
Do you favor or oppose a county mandatory cap on house sizes? Please explain.
Should changes to the Uniform Development Code be allowed more than once a year? Please explain.
How should affordable housing in San Juan County be financed?
Do you support additional cell towers? Please explain.
Please describe your vision of appropriate County land use regulations.
Should the County transfer station on San Juan Island be relocated or updated? Please explain.
